Practice Manager / Operations Leader

Full-Time

Pay: $50,000–$70,000 DOE

Job description:

PAWS Veterinary Center | Tucson, AZ

At PAWS Veterinary Center, we believe great veterinary care starts with strong relationships — between people, pets, and the teams who care for them.

We are a collaborative, integrative practice that includes top tier client service, advanced and innovative general medicine, a feline-focused care space, and a canine rehabilitation center. Our team is built on kindness, curiosity, teamwork, and a shared commitment to doing what’s best for our patients and their families.

We value open communication, continued learning, and supporting one another — because when our team thrives, our patients do too.

About This Role

We’re looking for a Practice Manager who can help support both the people and the systems that make our hospital run well.

This role is a blend of:

  • Team support and leadership
  • Day-to-day operations
  • Problem-solving and organization
  • Collaboration with ownership and department leaders

You don’t need to have all the answers — but you should enjoy helping bring clarity, structure, and support to a growing, evolving team.

What You’ll Do

Support the Team & Culture

  • Help create a positive, respectful, and team-oriented environment
  • Support supervisors and staff with coaching, communication, and growth
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and ongoing development
  • Lead team meetings that are collaborative and solutions-focused

Help the Hospital Run Smoothly

  • Oversee daily workflows and identify ways to improve them
  • Support communication between departments
  • Help implement systems and processes that make work easier and more consistent

Partner in Business Operations

  • Monitor key metrics like scheduling, payroll, and inventory
  • Support budgeting and cost-awareness
  • Work with vendors and service providers to keep things running efficiently

Support Client Experience

  • Help maintain a warm, consistent experience for clients and patients
  • Assist with responding to feedback and resolving concerns
  • Support communication systems that keep clients informed and cared for

Coordinate Systems & Facilities

  • Help optimize software, tools, and workflows
  • Coordinate maintenance, equipment, and facility needs
  • Support compliance and safety standards

Who Will Thrive Here

This role is a great fit for someone who:

  • Enjoys supporting people and building relationships
  • Thinks in terms of systems and solutions
  • Communicates clearly and kindly
  • Is organized, dependable, and adaptable
  • Can balance empathy with accountability
  • Finds fulfillment in being part of the care experience — someone who genuinely loves working with dogs, cats, and the people who care for them, and values playing a meaningful role behind the scenes in supporting that bond

Veterinary experience is helpful, but we also welcome candidates with strong leadership or operations experience from other service-based industries.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $50,000–$70,000 DOE
  • Performance-based bonus opportunities (up to $8,000/year)
  • Health insurance (practice contributes ~60%) with add-on vision/dental
  • 401(k) with 3% matching
  • Paid time off + flexible schedule
  • Continuing education and uniform allowance s
  • Employee Assistance Program (mental health support)
  • Generous pet care discounts
  • A supportive, collaborative team culture

Why This Role Matters

This role plays an important part in helping our team do their best work — and in turn, helping pets and their people receive the care they deserve.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Support a team that truly cares about one another
  • Help shape how the hospital grows and evolves
  • Make a meaningful impact on both team wellbeing and patient care
